America Needs an Education Reinvention Bill NOW!

In order to build a stronger, more self-sufficient America, America must first be willing to change. To build a progressive and competitive society, America's most important challenge is to change its antiquated educational system. In every political administration, education must be first and foremost. Without a strong and revitalized educational system, America will never progress to greatness nor be able to alleviate any of our other ills.

The three R's - reading, 'riting, and 'rithmetic - is how our children have been taught since the beginning of time. But we're now in the twenty-first century, and we have a responsibility to our children, to America's future, to educate tomorrow's leaders and teach future generations the skills they need so they can survive in a world that is becoming increasingly more difficult to survive in.

Today's youth are not like yesteryear's innocents. There are no more shows like Leave It To Beaver or Father Knows Best. Instead, we have accepted the censors lack of discretion where our children (and adults) are concerned by inundating the airwaves with swear words never before heard on television. It has become part of our children's language, and school teachers cannot do anything about it because the media has dictated that freedom of speech, of any speech, is the accepted norm, the right of all Americans, no matter their age. How could it be bad, many ask? They hear it everyday on TV. If it was bad, it wouldn't be allowed into our living room. The news programs have become more graphic, verbally and visually, educating our children more in the ways of adult themes and topics, like never before. And our morals have changed for the worse as our children are taught that their sexuality begins at an earlier age, and it is an important and exciting part of their lives.

Today, our children's rite of passage precedes their concept of right or wrong. Along with that open education, computers and the information highway, our children are more intelligent, more worldly, and older than children of similar ages were decades ago. Since we can't go back in time, although many adults wish we could, we need to treat our children as the young adults they have been forced to become. Consequently, America has to drastically reinvent its schools. Teacher tenure should be abolished in that this reward is irresponsible to the family and the consumer. If someone is doing an inadequate job then that employee should be monitored, and, if need be, replaced. No contract, like the rest of America's workplace, should be lifetime. This would ensure quality education.

America must do away with the law that its children can quit school at sixteen. All children must stay in school until graduation; if not public, then in vo-tech schools learning a trade. The excuse that a child must go to work at sixteen to help support their family does irreparable damage to the future of the child being forced to be his family's provider. Staying in school until graduation will break the chain of poverty, and, with it, crime and welfare will greatly diminish.

The school day must be longer. America is in last place in first world education. There is no reason why the school day must only be (approximately) six hours long. By increasing lunch by ten minutes (so our children don't have to wolf down their food), and by adding another five minutes for passing to one extra class, and forty-five-minutes for that class, our school day will be only one-hour longer. This would make a big difference in the quantity of education our children.

But, it's quality we must have for our children to rise to their true potential. To achieve that goal, American schools must incorporate into their present curriculum new Life Studies courses to prepare our children for the world in which they are becoming an integral part. Within partnership with the fifty state universities and state public education commissioners, along with noted educational psychologists and sociologists, a Master of Science Degree would be offered in part scholarship to already certified teachers.

American schools must add these Life Study courses and stay open an hour longer each day if America wants to be a competitive force in the twenty-first century.

This Education Reinvention Bill would help working parents, especially single mothers, in that their child will in school an hour longer everyday, costing them less in day care, thus receiving more in salary to help the family, therefore more taxes paid to the government on salaries and durable goods. This is financially greater than the tax refund that has been gratuitously given to America's middle class.

On the elementary level, classes in creative writing, confidence and self-esteem, manners and etiquette, ecology and the environment, safety, and the new 3R's (respect, responsibility, and reward) would be added to the yearly curriculum; one course for each grade level.

On the intermediate level, students would be required to take yearly courses in money management, interpersonal communications, and social awareness (which would include a cooperative commitment in volunteerism).

High school students would study one course in each of their eight semesters in career development, comparative cultures and religions, philosophy, ethics and morality, analytical and deductive reasoning, persuasive speaking, colleges, and parenthood.

The cost of educating these teachers and creating jobs for them in every public school sector would be repaid when the first graduating class enters mainstream America. With mandatory student graduation, the cost for this new educational system will be repaid with the money saved on law enforcement and a consistently reduced welfare system, along with more people in the work place paying taxes and generating money in American commerce.

Bad Times, Good America

Has North Korea called America's bluff in regard to America's warnings of serious consequences for launching nuclear capable, long-range missiles? It is more than a month since North Korea launched the missiles, with no retaliation in sight, from the American side. At least any tangible actions. One reason could be that America's hands are full, trying to deal with a full blown recession. Of course, there is a relationship between the financial health of a country, and its ability to do "mischief".

Why is America not going aggressively after N.Korea for cocking a snook at it, and launching its nuclear capable missiles? Is it because Obama is soft? Not necessarily. Even toughie Bush did not order a "precision bombing" of N.Korea's missile launch facilities, much less a full scale invasion of N.Korea, a la Iraq. Actually, the behavior of the Superpower is related to the relative strength of its opponents, apart, of course, from the depth of its own pockets.

America invaded and occupied Iraq, precisely because it did not have the Weapons of Mass Destruction. Typical bully behavior. Even the bit about bringing Democracy and Freedom to Iraq rings hollow. Why only Iraq? Why not N.Korea? And what about China, Egypt, Algeria, and nearer home, Cuba? To start with, any imposition of Democracy and Freedom, of a particular variety at that, is bad in law. Add to that, it's inconsistent application to different countries, one gets an idea about why America is so unpopular, across a wide swath of the earth, encompassing different cultures, colors and religions.

With the recent change in the American administration, and the encouraging pronouncements emanating from the White House,it seemed to appear that America had realized its mistakes, and was trying to make amends for the same. But there is a nagging doubt as to whether this new behavior on part of America, is not dictated by its precarious economic and financial position, rather than a genuine change of heart.

For example, even though the Obama administration has decided to shut down the Guantanamo detention center, and release, virtually all the prisoners, it has not given a clean chit to the detainees, much less compensation, for their illegal detention. Whether such half-way measures could restore America's image is a moot point. It only gives credence to the widely held belief, that America's new goody behavior is a result, more of its depleting treasury, than its surging morality.

America has to traverse a long distance, before it can regain its earlier image. Not that its earlier image was a result of its goodness, but is perceived, rightly or wrongly, to be preferable to the present one! Which means that America has to first regain its earlier image, and from thereon, move forward, to bring about genuine and substantive changes, to its personality, to regain the trust and respect of other countries and peoples. Quite a tall order.

It would be interesting to see how America copes with these challenges to its power and authority, with a decreased ability to spend unlimited amounts of money to win friends and silence foes. The current crisis seems to have given both "friends" and "foes" of America, an opportunity to rework their equations with the Superpower, to their benefit, if only a little.

Social Stratification in America

In discussing American society and its structure, first of all I'm going to define social stratification itself and the bases on which this concept is founded. Then I'm going to discus which category is more applicable to the American society.

To give a general description, social stratification is ranking social groups based on the things they have in common and the things that are different among them. This categorization is basically made in three different ways:

1) State systems,

2) Caste systems, and

3) Class system.

In a state system the authority and power is monopolized in the hands of a narrow elite. In such society, the elites rule and the rest of people are bent to their will; like the feudal societies. In a caste system, a person's place in society is given to him/her based on birth and ancestry. Thus the person cannot change his/her place throughout his/her life. And finally in a class society people are given status based on birth and also personal achievements and backgrounds. In other word people of such societies can change their status through their lives. Having said all this, we can now discuss the concept of social stratification in American society.

The history of America bears no sign of feudalism in it. Besides, as people of America were immigrants from other countries so the matter of birth was almost of low significance. Of course there were a number of British elite among the first settlers but they could not be proud of their ancestry in their new home as they were in their homelands; because every one had to work hard if s/he wanted to survive.

Therefore the conditions of young America were not suitable for the foundation of a feudal or caste system. So America took the form of a class system. But it's clear that we can not relate the formation of a class society in America only to conditions America had in early ages. Some other factors have also contributed to the continuation of this system even to today America. Among these factors are: individualism, industry and job opportunities, and a tendency toward mobility.

In America the idea of individualism is so profound that it can be seen in every aspect of peoples' lives. Individuals are preferred to societies and in this way personal achievement becomes the measure for giving a person his/her status in society. it is the individual who is responsible for his/her success and failure- it is interesting to know that 43 percent of people polled by Gallup believed "lack of effort as a reason people are poor" and "53 percent" believed ""strong effort" as a reason some people are rich" ¹.

We can conclude that most of the people believe in he class society values and features. The next tow factors are actually interrelated. Even we can trace the effects if individualism in these two. For an American finding a good job is one of the main priorities. They easily leave their homes and houses in hope to have better jobs and therefore better opportunities and conditions. As an effect of individualism, they feel less sense of belonging to family or homeland. In other words a good job opportunity is most of the times preferred over being near one's family and homeland. Again the matter of birth loses its significance because of this condition and each person is taken accountable for his/her status, thus reaffirming the class system in America.

Like other class societies, America consists of three basic classes: higher class, middle class and lower class. But some thing is different in America. Unlike in other class systems, in America class consciousness is actually absent ², which means people are not aware of their place in the social ranking. Actually most of them consider themselves as middle-class but they don't know where the boundaries of the three classes meet each other. However if we want to give an income- based definition of the middle class, according to statistics it ranges from"$ 32,653 to $ 48,979" ³.

The overlapping of classes in America is caused somehow the concept of credit shopping. In this way, even a person of a lower class income group can buy things that people of the middle class afford to buy through credit shopping. So s/he sees little difference between people of middle class and herself/himself. So he also thinks he belongs to middle class. I think that through such economical system, American government has been able to promote the standard of living among the citizens, spreading a sense of satisfaction among people. That's why most of Americans still consider their country the best place to live.

South America Travel Guide - Cash and Financial Tips For a South America Vacation

Travelers have little difficulty with currency and money changing during a South America vacation, but the standard advice to traveling anywhere abroad is to take a mix of cash, plastic and traveler's checks, for the sake of both convenience and security.

CASH

The US dollar is by far the most accepted and easily changed foreign currency across the entire continent. In many places, you can use dollars to pay for goods and services directly, and receive the change either in dollars or the local currency. The exchange rate for this kind of transaction varies significantly depending on the country and the store or service provider.

Aside from these options, you'll have no problems changing major currencies (euros, sterling, Canadian dollars) in banks or at the airport. The exchange rate will be less competitive here, but probably still better than in your home country.

For a Peru vacation, US$ are accepted in all the major supermarkets as well as in hotels and popular tourist restaurants. You can choose to receive your change in dollars or nuevo soles. The supermarket exchange rate is probably the best you'll find, making them convenient places to change smaller denominations (they'll refuse $100 bills.)

Outside each supermarket and around Lima's busier districts you'll find money changers, or cambistas who also offer a reasonable exchange rate. These money changers are properly registered and can be trusted although take sensible precautions, always check your bills and don't flash cash visibly in the street.

Away from the busier urban environments, dollars are less accepted and you'll need a supply of nuevo soles. There is a large quantity of counterfeit bills in circulation so appear vigilant to avoid receiving fakes and check larger bills carefully. There should be a clear watermark, a silver strip and embossed detail across the top of the note. If in doubt, ask for another bill.

For an Argentina vacation, dollars and euros are often accepted in major cities at supermarkets, hotels and popular restaurants and change can be received in pesos. Cambistas offer a reasonable exchange rate but take precautions when handling money in public.

As in Peru, banks and airport counters are convenient and secure but tend to offer a less competitive rate

When venturing into more rural regions, be sure to have a sufficient supply of pesos, because changing dollars will be less easy and they may not always be accepted in stores.

During a Brazil vacation you can change your dollars for Brazilian reais at banks and large hotels but it is advisable not to use street changers due to the risk of receiving forgeries. Banks are likely to be closed on Saturdays and Sundays so be careful not to get caught short during the weekend.

Meanwhile, on a Costa Rica vacation, US dollars are not widely accepted other than for specific tourist-related services (tours, park fees, hotels etc), and even less so in the more rural areas. They are easily exchanged in banks, along with euros, while changing other currencies may not be so easy. Exchanging with street changers is not recommended due to the number of forgeries in circulation. Whenever receiving bills in dollars or colones, only accept pristine standard notes, as worn bills are likely to be rejected elsewhere.

International ATM networks are well established across Latin America and it's easy to find ATMs (cajeros automaticos) in busy, urban environments. It will be fairly easy to find machines that are connected to the Visa Plus, Cirrus and Link networks and many will dispense either in dollars or the local currency. Depending on your own bank's charges this may be the most cost-effective way to travel in Latin America. Exercise caution when using an ATM: be sure no one is looking over your shoulder and try to avoid using ATMs if alone at night.

PLASTIC

Credit/Debit cards are widely accepted across the continent, with the most predominant network being Visa, closely followed by MasterCard. Amex, Diners and other smaller networks are less frequently accepted.

Rather than use your card to pay for meals, souvenirs, etc, it may be more advisable to withdraw cash from ATMs to benefit from the better exchange rate, although this depends on your own bank's tariffs.

Some establishments, especially hotels, independent tour operators and some restaurants will charge hefty (sometimes up to 10%) fees for credit card payments. Check the final cost carefully before agreeing to purchase.

TRAVELER'S CHECKS

Traveler's checks remain popular for visitors, largely due to the added security they offer in the event of being lost or stolen. Checks issued in US dollars are preferred and most easily cashed in banks across the entire continent.

The commission on cashing traveler's checks varies from country to country. In Brazil, it may be high as $20 per check, while on a Costa Rica vacation, banks tend to charge a fixed rate of 1-3%. Meanwhile in Argentina you might be in for a long wait at the bank, and in Peru cashing checks in remote, jungle regions can be tricky.

In the event that your checks are lost or stolen, it is worth getting a police report to support your claim.

America - Is it in Bible Prophecies and what can the USA Expect at the Second Coming of Jesus Christ

This is perhaps the most often asked question heard in connection with the second coming, at least for Americans. It a reasonable question for any North American to ask, but it is far from easy to answer. I would be remiss if I were to say that the Bible expressly names America in any passage from Genesis to Revelation. That some passages may refer to America is very possible but not provable and that is the very kind of conjecture I will not entertain.

Naturally all the events surrounding the second coming of Christ are global or universal in nature so they necessarily include the United States. That the antichrist rules America for the same short period he rules the rest of the world is covered in Revelation 13:7. How he gets this powerful and fiercely independent nation to cow to his will is probably the more interesting question to try to answer.

Some people believe that America will be forced to comply with antichrist after an invasion of our shores by a great Eurasian pact of nations. Mostly, the invasion idea stems from the vision of George Washington. In that vision it is said that Washington told this story to his aide who in turn told it to someone else just before he died at about the time of the civil war.

Washington was told that three great calamities would befall the nation. Starting with the revolutionary war, following that the civil war and finally some future war where America would be invaded. My learned opinion of this vision is, "who knows?"

That America would require force to he pushed into the rule of the antichrist is easy to believe but the force in question could be of a different nature. The remaining two views of how the United States is forced into the final pact of nations are probably more tenable.

The antichrist does not act alone but he is aided by one the scripture refers to as the false prophet. Rev. 16:13. 19:20. 20:10 We know little about who this person is today, hut what is known about him is that he doesn't come from the same region, country and perhaps even the same hemisphere as the antichrist. The antichrist rises up from out of the sea according to Rev. 13:1.

The false prophet rises up out of the land. Rev. 13:1 1-16. The antichrist rules from the revived Roman Empire or The European Union. Where the false prophet is stationed exactly is not known but some think it will be America. This of course is speculative, even though it is very possible. The false prophet will probably not be connected to any religion, but it is most likely he will be a political figure or a minister of science. What he is may he uncertain, but the influence he wields over the world is not. He is able to produce signs in the heavens and draw fire down from heaven at will. Whether he does this supernaturally through the aide of the devil or engages some star wars type pyrotechnical display is also not known.

What is known is that his antics are very successful in persuading the people on earth to give antichrist both credence and rule. Some biblical scholars have thought that he could come from America and while this is not known for sure, it gives rise to the idea that America will he assuaged to join with antichrist by his direct influence. But again, while it is very possible, it is still only conjectural at this time.

A third and perhaps a far more likely scenario is that America will undergo a collapse of all of its markets and financial institutions. Following a collapse, a desperate nation may seek to join with antichrist's emerging economic systems that will be so successful throughout much of the rest of the world at that time. Not long ago I asked some people the question, what do you think would be the most disastrous thing that could happen to America and what would change its nature significantly, an all out invasion of our shores or a complete and pervasive financial collapse? The majority answered that it obviously would be the collapse of our economy.

America is in the long stretch of the good times. We have many years between us and the dust bowl days and the stock market crash of twenty nine. World War Two is also far behind and the post war boom has become a post war glut. Any people that might decide to invade the shores of this powerful and fiercely proud nation would be in great peril. But take away what Americans really love, their affluence, money and material blessings and you could make them dance to just about any tune. This is the theorem that when applied to the question of how America joins the great evil new world order is the most believable, if not the most likely.

If the compunction to have more, drives a few to fraud, robbery and murder, then what will the lack of almost all consumer goods do to this nation? If history teaches us anything, the answer to this question is not a pretty one.

Is America A Christian Nation?

Since the founding of our nation, the United States of America was considered a Christian nation. America sent out more missionaries than any other nation. America gave to other nations more than any other nation. More Christians were being born in other nations and Christianity continued to evolve in other countries. But as every empire goes into a period of complacency, today America is plagued with various social evils that undermine our values and standing as a Christian Nation.

Marriage was once a sacred covenant between male and female. It was never meant to be broken except under the principles described in the bible, which is the true Word of God. Today, America has diluted the very nature and laws of God, in to believing that anything goes in marriage. More couples live separated and more children are deprived of living in a Christian home. Christian values are being considered as rituals and extremely right-winged.

Babies born today are aborted more than ever. Their right to exist is continuously denied and organizations are funded by the federal government to kill babies. Racial discrimination continues in different segments of our society. God never gave babies to be killed. Yet America continues to use the advancement of technology to kill the babies that God wants to bring to change the world.

Theory of relativism is being taught in schools. Kids are taught to believe in anything as true. Hence what is true for one can be false to another. Darwinism continues dominate the young minds and depraves the hearts of young people from knowing the one true God, Jesus, who created them and died for them. Hence more and more young children are lost and devoid of the truth.

America continues to trust in Military and in wealth to save itself. It has gone far to think that it can survive on its own. Everyday some people are continuing to remove the symbols of Christianity. Crosses are being removed from war memorials. Ten Commandments are being removed from Schools. The very phrase 'In God we trust' is being targeted to be removed from the currency notes. Atheism is considered the norm of the day and sexual immorality is being considered as the advancement in culture.

Politicians have stopped looking unto the prophets of God. Christianity is considered outdated to some of the incumbent leaders of our country. The need for God is becoming obsolescent. While God continues to wait for the people to get saved, we are continuously drifting away from God.

More and more mosques and temples of Polytheistic Gods are being built. The foundation of freedom is to worship the true God. But today it is being used to worship any man-made God. While America continues to dwindle, the nations around the world are accepting the gospel. South Korea is emerging as a Christian nation. More Christians are being born in China and Brazil.

I believe God is continuing to touch the nation of America, even though America is drifting away from the principles of the Word of God. God is still speaking and raising leaders to touch the nation of America. No military power can raise a nation. Only righteousness in God can raise America to continue to be the leader in the World.

May America rise to worship God and fall into the hands of its Creator.
