Everyone has felt fear at one time in their life. When confronted with fear there are two options: fight or flight. Over the years, American's carrying the "flight" syndrome have been more vocal to pull the troops out of Iraq. After 9/11 a clear line was drawn into the sand by terrorists. An attack that should have united America, divided it. President's Bush decision to fight back produced two sects: pro-war and anti-war. Each sect has a valid argument for their stance. However, let's take a look at the driving force behind each group. Pro-war group wants to support President Bush in his mission to defend America from terrorist. The anti-war group does not support President Bush in the war, believing that he blatantly lied to the American people about the reasons for going to war.
What will either outcome (pressing forward, or pulling back) say to America's citizens, neighbors, and enemies? What will be the final result? No one knows, but there is no denying the fact that to the world, America appears weak and greatly divided. Jesus said, "Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation, and a house divided against a house falls" (Luke 11:17). Even the stateless terrorist are united in the common goal to destroy America while the United States of America can not decide how to confront the threat of terrorism. A house divided can not stand.
Many American's believe that a threat of terrorism does not exist or that the Bush administration wants citizens to live in a constant state of fear. Terrorism will continue to exist well after George Bush leaves office. Period. For decades, a quiet war has waged against America, it wasn't until 9/11 that people finally noticed. America needs to react differently from what it has in the past and not lose the will to fight.
Due to the outcome of recent elections, our government has become submissive. Granted, democrats won due to the unhappiness of the current situation in Iraq. And who can blame voters? According to the "non-biased" media, America doesn't know how to win a war. Time Magazine says the American army is broken down. And the democrats ignore the truth regarding terrorist when it conflicts with their ideology. Well, with an outlook like that who needs enemies?
Instead of constantly tearing down our government, we should pray for God to give the leaders of our county the wisdom to lead us. You may not agree with the reason America is at war. Yet, what cause of action does that leave the U.S.? Should we wait for terrorists to attack us again or should we go on the offense and bring the fight to where the terrorists find sanctuary? Those who wish to engage in dialogue with those who seek American's destruction--more power to them. Maybe, if they wear a "negotiating pacifist" sticker on their chest, the terrorist won't attack them.
Pacifist love to argue that Jesus came in peace thus all people should promote peace and try to get along. True peace will not occur until Jesus returns. Moreover, do not think that Jesus came to bring peace, for He declared, "Do you suppose that I have come to give peace upon earth? No, I say to you, but rather division." (Luke 12:51). When Satan led a rebellion against God, God did not negotiate with him. He cast Satan and the fallen angels out of Heaven and crushed the rebellion. Evil must be confronted, not fed--it must be dealt with, albeit via a fight, battle, or war because it's the only language evil comprehends. "If a man pays back evil for good, evil will never leave his house (Proverb 17:13)." Instead of defending and staying united as a nation against a common threat that wishes to harm our men, women, and children, various administrations have paid evil back for good for many years and look at the results. America was still attacked. Unfortunately, casualties are part of war. According to the U.S. Civil War Statistics, 373,458 soldiers died during the American Civil War. During World War I and World War II over 178,380 soldiers died defending America. If the anti-war movement had their way, America would not be the superpower nation that it is today. They would have happily sat down at the table and negotiated with some of our most evil enemies.
Speaking of negotiating with enemies, on April 4, 2007, Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi, traveled abroad to Syria--a known terrorist state, proving to the world how divided we are as a nation. How long can the United States continually stand strong with our own leaders making a mockery of our standing in the world? It's widely known that the Democratic Party and terrorists both want the American troops out of Iraq. Does it strike anyone as bizarre to have US congressmen agreeing with the terrorists? Of course not, it's all President Bush fault. Where is the outrage at Pelosi for making it a point to ignore the President and follow her own advice by visiting Syria? As this article goes to print, the media has just reported that Pelosi may go to Iran and engage in dialogue with a nation that has openly called for the destruction of the United States of America. President Bush proclaimed Iran as part of the Axis of Evil. How comforting is it to know that Pelosi is consciously making an effort to capitulate and pay back evil for good by engaging in dialogue with Iran? Funny, I highly doubt she speaks in a language that Iran or Syria comprehends. Thank you, Nancy Pelosi for showing our enemies how deep the division is within America's armor. May God help us all.
